Funder: Biocodex Microbiota Foundation
Due Dates: November 30, 2026 (Submission, midnight CET) | May 2027 (Final decision)
Funding Amounts: €200,000 including VAT for a project lasting 1–3 years
Summary: Supports clinical or fundamental research on diet–microbiome interactions shaping immune function in the treatment of human disease.
Key Information: Previous principal investigators of a Biocodex Microbiota Foundation international grant cannot apply again.
The Biocodex Microbiota Foundation funds research on human gut microbiota in health and disease through an annual international call. The 2027 theme is “Diet-Microbiome Interactions Shaping Immune Function in the Treatment of Human Disease.” Both clinical and fundamental research proposals are welcome, with projects combining microbiome analysis, immunophenotyping and a dietary component.
Research should be performed primarily in humans within a disease context. Studies exclusively involving healthy subjects are excluded, and experimental validation is expected rather than a purely observational approach. An independent International Scientific Committee chooses the annual theme and reviews proposals for their scientific merit, relevance and benefit to human health. Funding supports researchers working within universities, hospitals or other research settings.
