The Biocodex Microbiota Foundation’s annual American research grant supports early-career investigators working to advance research and understanding of human microbiota. The 2026 theme is “Harnessing the Gut Microbiome: Impacts on Health, Disease, Diagnosis and Therapeutics.” The national program addresses different microbiome research topics each year, with a board of independent scientists reviewing applications and selecting one proposal for support.
The grant can support a new study or an existing ongoing project at a U.S. institution. It is intended as seed or bridge funding to help investigators initiate or continue research as they work toward independence. Support is primarily for project operations rather than salaries, and the ideal candidate has five years or less of research experience.
