Description
The Biodiversity Fund supports organizations working in communities within the Boreal Waters Community Foundation service area. Its focus is biodiversity in the Duluth–Superior region, including habitat preservation and restoration, vulnerable species and ecosystems, planning for environmental change, and research and education. The fund aims to conserve, preserve, and restore natural resources for future generations.
The foundation welcomes established nonprofits, grassroots or emerging groups, and collaborations. It is especially interested in locally trusted, community-owned efforts, including organizations led by or serving historically marginalized communities. Support can continue across multiple years when a project is making progress and the foundation and recipient agree on next steps.
