BIOECONOMY GIANTS Open Call for Scaling-up & Piloting (OC2) supports primary producers and partners in scaling high-value bio-based products from underused biomass to advance a cooperative, circular bioeconomy.
Funder: European Commission
Due Dates: November 1, 2026 (Opening) | December 31, 2026 (Application deadline)
Funding Amounts: EUR 280,000 total funding for four seven-month pilots
Summary: Supports pilots scaling high-value bio-based products from secondary or underutilised biomass while strengthening primary-producer cooperation.
Key Information: Solutions must already be at TRL 6–8 and actively involve primary producers.
Supported by the European Commission, this call is run by the EU-funded BIOECONOMY GIANTS project as cascade funding: the project awards and pays the funding itself. It supports four pilots to scale up high-value bio-based products from secondary or underutilised agricultural, agri-food and forestry biomass.
The pilots aim to place primary producers at the heart of the bioeconomy, strengthening cooperative business models and collaboration with other participants. Projects must demonstrate circularity and market potential, with scalability, replicability and climate impact central to selection. The call focuses on advancing solutions towards wider use rather than standalone bioenergy or biofuel projects.
