    Description

This funding opportunity from Formas supports collaborative research and innovation projects that develop fossil-free solutions and enhance resilience in Sweden’s bioeconomy. The call targets both primary production (e.g., forestry, agriculture, aquaculture) and industrial processes using bio-based raw materials from forests, fields, and water. Projects should contribute to the transition to a fossil-free economy, reduce fossil fuel dependence, increase resource efficiency, and strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of bio-based industries.

The program emphasizes cross-sectoral and interdisciplinary collaboration, encouraging partnerships between businesses, universities, research institutes, and public organizations. Upscaling and broad dissemination of results are key aims, as is strengthening resilience to societal or environmental disruptions. The initiative is part of the broader Biosociety program, which seeks to build a more resource-efficient, competitive, and resilient circular bioeconomy in Sweden.
