Bliss Symposium Awards support graduate and advanced undergraduate students’ symposium participation to engage with scholarship in Byzantine Studies, Garden and Landscape Studies, and Pre-Columbian Studies.

Description
The Bliss Symposium Awards support student participation in the annual symposia hosted by Dumbarton Oaks Research Library and Collection in Washington, D.C. The program engages graduate and advanced undergraduate students in Byzantine Studies, Garden and Landscape Studies, and Pre-Columbian Studies by helping cover travel, accommodation, and other approved attendance expenses. Symposium registration fees are also waived for recipients.
The awards center on engagement with the scholarship presented at each symposium. Students participate in the event, assist with light conference logistics such as facilitating discussions, and write a short feature on a defined topic related to the symposium’s scholarship. Students from U.S. and international institutions are encouraged to apply, with preference given to students in fields related to Dumbarton Oaks’ areas of study.
