Description
The Board of Regents/SREB Doctoral Support Initiative is designed to recruit and retain doctoral students in Louisiana who aspire to academic careers, particularly those intending to join the professoriate. Administered by the Louisiana Board of Regents, the program awards up to ten support slots each year to eligible graduate schools or governing units, which then distribute these opportunities among qualified departments. Each slot offers a financial supplement for the academic year, membership in the SREB Doctoral Scholars Program (which provides networking and professional development), and participation in the annual SREB Institute on Teaching and Mentoring. The initiative aims to strengthen the pipeline into academia by supporting students financially and professionally as they complete their doctoral degrees.
