Description
The Board of Regents/SREB Doctoral Support Initiative, administered by the Louisiana Board of Regents, helps recruit and retain students pursuing doctoral degrees who plan to enter the professoriate after completing their studies. The initiative operates statewide and provides up to ten support slots each year. All disciplines are eligible.
Each slot combines an academic-year supplement for student support with membership in SREB’s Doctoral Scholars Program and participation in SREB’s annual Institute on Teaching and Mentoring. These components connect financial support during doctoral study with programming focused on teaching and mentoring. Graduate schools or governing units for graduate education receive the awards and determine how individual support slots are distributed among qualified departments.
