Description
The Boating Facilities Fund provides grants to support the acquisition, development, enhancement, or rehabilitation of public boat launching facilities on Maine waters. Administered by the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry's Bureau of Parks and Lands, the program aims to improve recreational boating access statewide. Funding is available for both new construction and upgrades, including professional design, engineering, approved construction costs, administrative expenses, permit fees, and construction management. Land acquisition is permitted by special exception and must be directly related to boating facility development. The program also offers a replacement boarding float initiative for eligible sites.
Facilities must be accessible to the general public, comply with ADA requirements where feasible, and primarily serve recreational (not commercial) boating. Projects must align with state goals and regulations for recreational boating.
