Description
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) administers several programs to enhance recreational boating in Florida. The Florida Boating Improvement Program (FBIP) provides competitive assistance for boating access and boating-related activities benefiting motorized vessels on coastal and inland waters. The federally funded Boating Infrastructure Grant (BIG) Program supports construction, renovation, and maintenance of public facilities serving transient recreational boats at least 26 feet long.
The Derelict Vessel Removal Grant Program reimburses government applicants for eligible vessel removals from Florida waters, including rapid-removal and block-grant options. The Boating Safety and Education Program aims to improve knowledge of boating regulations and safe boating. Additional programs for education, safety, navigational aids, and other recreational boating improvements may be established as funding becomes available.
