Description
The Body-Worn Camera (BWC) Grant Program provides financial assistance for the initial purchase, maintenance, and replacement of body-worn cameras, including ongoing costs to maintain cameras and store recordings. It serves South Carolina state and local law enforcement agencies, the Attorney General’s Office, solicitors’ offices, and public defenders’ offices. Applicants may submit requests annually for new purchases and yearly maintenance and storage costs.
The South Carolina General Assembly funds the program. The Department of Public Safety’s Office of Highway Safety and Justice Programs (OHSJP) administers it, and the South Carolina Public Safety Coordinating Council approves the distribution of funds.
