The Bogliasco Foundation awards approximately 60 fellowships annually to exceptional individuals pursuing creative or scholarly work in the arts and humanities. Fellows spend a month at the Bogliasco Study Center on the Ligurian coast near Genoa, Italy, with living quarters, full board, and workspace. The program provides uninterrupted time and an intimate, international, multilingual community in which to develop significant new work; it does not offer training or courses.
Supported fields include archaeology, architecture, classics, dance, film/video, history, landscape architecture, literature, music, philosophy, public humanities, theater, and visual arts. Applicants should demonstrate significant achievement appropriate to their age and experience. The Foundation imposes no restrictions on project content and gives no priority to Italian subject matter. Donor-supported Special Fellowships offer additional opportunities tied to particular disciplines or applicant backgrounds.
