Description
The BPOC Graduate Excellence Award is offered by the University of British Columbia through Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. It recognizes outstanding research and scholarly performance by graduate students who identify as Black or as a Person of Colour, while addressing systemic barriers they experience during graduate training. The award supports scholarship across disciplines, with preference for domestic students and incoming research Master’s students.
Disciplinary Faculties and graduate programs recommend recipients and award amounts to Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. Evaluation focuses on past academic achievement and research potential within the expectations of each discipline. Featured recipients work in fields including art history, counselling psychology, forestry, school and applied child psychology, botany, and chemistry.
