Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) supports excellence in academic synthetic organic chemistry through a program of unrestricted grants, graduate fellowships, and awards. Building on more than 20 years of support for leading academic institutions and researchers, this grant aims to enable top-tier research, support future leaders, and train the next generation of organic chemists.
The grant funds work within awardees’ laboratories, including new synthetic methodologies, total synthesis, and tool molecules for understanding biologically relevant systems. The program recognizes synthetic organic chemistry as a training ground for medicinal and process chemists involved in discovering and developing pharmaceutical agents. Mentoring and developing junior faculty and research-group staff are also priorities.
