    Description

The Brocher Foundation’s Residencies programme provides dedicated time for research, reflection, writing, and discussion at its estate in Hermance, Switzerland, on the shores of Lake Geneva. Established in 2007, the programme supports work on the ethical, legal, and social dimensions of medical developments, health policy, and medical technology. It brings together researchers from medicine, law, bioethics, philosophy, psychology, anthropology, history of medicine, sociology, economics, and other disciplines.

Interdisciplinary exchange is central to the programme. Internal workshops allow residents to present their projects, while shared meals encourage discussion and collaboration. Proximity to international organizations—including WHO, WTO, WIPO, UNHCR, ILO, ICRC, and MSF—supports dialogue between academia, public policy circles, and practitioners. Around 50 researchers stay at the Foundation each year.
