Description
The Florida Brownfields Program, administered by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), encourages voluntary cleanup and redevelopment of contaminated commercial and industrial properties (brownfields) throughout Florida. The program aims to mitigate public health and environmental risks, promote sustainable land use, and support community revitalization by offering regulatory and financial incentives—including the Voluntary Cleanup Tax Credit (VCTC)—to both public and private entities that undertake eligible site rehabilitation activities. The program also fosters environmental equity, utilizes geospatial tools for impact evaluation, and facilitates the transformation of underutilized properties into productive assets.
