Funder: Botanical Society of America
Due Dates: November 1, 2026 (Nominations open) | February 1, 2027 (Nomination deadline)
Funding Amounts: Honorary corresponding membership with all lifetime-member privileges, rather than research funding
Summary: Recognizes distinguished senior scientists living and working outside the United States for outstanding contributions to plant science.
Key Information: Nominations must be submitted by current BSA members.
The Botanical Society of America (BSA) confers corresponding membership on distinguished senior scientists who have made outstanding contributions to plant science and who live and work outside the United States. This is recognition of an established record of scientific achievement, not funding for a new research project. Elected corresponding members receive all the privileges of lifetime members of the Society.
The program seeks scientists whose careers demonstrate significant impact through excellence in research and scholarship. Meaningful contributions to education, public policy, and service to the professional botanical community may also be considered. Recipients are expected to have demonstrated leadership and engagement in scientific organizations in their own countries and/or internationally. Nominations undergo committee and Council review before election by the Society’s membership at its annual business meeting.
