Description
The DAI Fellowship for Study in Berlin is part of the C. Brian Rose AIA/DAI Exchange Fellowships, a reciprocal program that supports archaeological scholarship and contact between North American and German archaeologists. Presented by the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA), the Berlin fellowship is funded and selected exclusively by the German Archaeological Institute (DAI). It supports early-career postdoctoral researchers who wish to use the DAI’s library facilities in Berlin.
Past fellows have used Berlin’s libraries, archives, and museum collections to develop books, revise dissertations, and prepare journal articles. Supported topics include gender and social identities in Archaic central Italy, Paestum’s archaeology, Roman sarcophagi, Mediterranean trade, and Mesopotamian sacred gifts. Selection emphasizes scholarly promise and the merits of the proposed research.
