Due Dates (Anticipated): January 2027 (Annual call for proposals deadline)
Summary: Supports research on pests, diseases, and horticultural practices important to California’s cherry industry.
The California Cherry Board funds research each year to address production issues important to California’s cherry industry. The program supports investigations into pests, diseases, and horticultural practices, including work in cherry orchards and during pre- and postharvest production. Research topics represented in its portfolio include insect pest management, winter chill accumulation, dormancy breaking, irrigation management, and sweet cherry pedicel retention.
Funded work also examines food safety risks during postharvest production, management of bacterial blast and bacterial canker, orchard disease risk, and the epidemiology and management of pre- and postharvest diseases. The Board shares findings through annual research reports and research review presentations, with an archive available through its Industry Research Center.
