Description
The California Energy Commission (CEC) offers this competitive grant through its Federal EV Infrastructure Programs, administered by the Fuels and Transportation Division. It supports the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of high-powered, publicly accessible direct current fast-charging stations along major corridors under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) formula program.
Projects must use commercially available technology on previously disturbed or developed land suitable for the NEPA categorical exclusion for EV charging stations. CEC administers California’s NEVI program in collaboration with Caltrans. The program aims to expand reliable corridor charging, support long-distance light-duty EV travel, increase driver confidence, and encourage private investment in charging infrastructure. This is infrastructure deployment funding, not funding for paper studies, research projects, surveys, software development, or vehicle demonstrations.
