    Description

The California Tahoe Conservancy funds conservation and recreation projects that restore and enhance natural and recreational resources in the Lake Tahoe Basin. Grants support land acquisition, planning, implementation, and monitoring, including scientific studies, restoration, forest treatments, stormwater improvements, public-access facilities, and programs removing barriers to outdoor recreation. The Conservancy is a state agency focused exclusively on the Basin and works with tribal, federal, state, local, and private partners.

Funding priorities include recreational and public access opportunities for all, biodiversity protection, climate resilience, community protection and resilience, and Tribal presence. Projects are evaluated for alignment with the Conservancy’s Strategic Plan, the Lake Tahoe Environmental Improvement Program, and relevant state and Basin plans. Staff also considers whether proposed work directly results in, leads to, or informs on-the-ground work.
