Key Information: Grants are paid to research institutions, not directly to researchers.
The Biocodex Microbiota Foundation’s Nordics grant supports scientific research on gut microbiota in human health and disease. The national call covers the Nordic-Baltic region, specifically Finland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Its published 2026 theme is “Gut Microbiota in Human Health and Disease,” with the aim of advancing scientific research in this field.
Young investigators and advanced-degree holders may apply, and postdoctoral investigators are encouraged. An independent Nordic Scientific Committee reviews proposals and selects awardees without Biocodex involvement. Earlier winning projects have explored microbiota-derived lipid mediators, antidepressants’ effects on the gut microbiome, bacterial conversion of Parkinson’s disease medication, breast milk mucins, host microRNAs, and newborn intestinal flora.
