The Callahan Incentive Grant is administered by The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation and made possible by a gift from Barbara and Les Callahan, longtime supporters of the organization. It supports nonprofit and governmental organizations undertaking historic preservation projects in Georgia. Funding focuses on capital, “bricks and mortar” improvements that make a significant contribution toward full rehabilitation or restoration of a historic building or site.
The program connects physical preservation with community benefit and ongoing stewardship. Projects must demonstrate significant community impact and should draw support from community organizations, community leaders, and individuals. They should also include a sustainable plan for the site's long-term use and maintenance, including economic self-sufficiency to the extent possible.
