    Description

The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation’s research scholarships support doctoral students and senior researchers conducting research in Portugal on Portuguese culture. Eligible fields are literature, history, and art history. Projects must aim to produce a scientific paper, a publication or part of a publication, or an academic thesis or part of a thesis.

The programme connects international researchers with Portuguese universities and research and study centres. Selection considers the proposed work’s importance and originality in promoting Portuguese culture or cultural exchange, alongside applicants’ academic records, motivation, and research career plans. Particular attention is given to links with institutions that promote Portuguese language and culture and partnerships with Portuguese universities.
