CalRecycle’s Cycle 10 Beverage Container Redemption Innovation Grant Program supports start-up costs for mobile recycling programs that increase opportunities for consumers to redeem California Refund Value (CRV) beverage containers. This cycle is limited to mobile projects operated by existing certified recycling centers, using vehicles or receptacles hosted by an anchor recycling center.
Supported models include staffed or unstaffed mobile reverse vending machines, bag drop receptacles, and staffed mobile locations where attendants weigh containers and provide immediate refund payments. Reverse vending machines issue cash or redeemable credit worth at least the containers’ refund value. Mobile units must arrive at redemption locations at the beginning of their business day and leave at its conclusion.
