    Description

The Calvin Institute of Christian Worship’s Vital Worship, Vital Preaching Grants for Worshiping Communities support year-long projects that renew or strengthen Christian public worship. The program connects worship with Christian discipleship and faith formation through theological reflection on worship’s meaning and purpose. It welcomes emerging and established communities developing proposals collaboratively.

Projects may explore Bible reading, preaching, public prayer, baptism, communion, congregational music, visual arts, storytelling, universal and responsive worship design, or cultural engagement. Examples include studying how sacraments connect with community life, exploring the Psalms’ influence on worship music, integrating sermons with congregational life, and involving people of all ages in worship leadership. The program favors collaborative learning, intergenerational or multicultural participation, and work that can help other communities strengthen worship.
