    Description

The Campbell Bequest Fund is administered by the New Zealand Statistical Association (NZSA). Established through a NZ$48,000 donation from Professor Campbell’s estate, it uses investment interest to support special projects reflecting his interests in mathematics, statistics, and education. Campbell viewed mathematics and statistics as a unified whole, emphasizing sound mathematical foundations for statistics teaching and effective connections between schools and universities.

The fund’s priorities also encompass support for women mathematicians, attention to students beyond the academic elite, and intellectual honesty extending beyond mathematics. Past projects demonstrate a broad scope: school teaching resources, statistical-literacy activities, official-statistics apps, postgraduate conferences, early-career networking, and research into graduates’ workplace use of statistics.
