Description
The Office of Academic and Faculty Affairs (OAFA) makes funding available annually to host guest speakers and artists at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Part of its Curriculum Development & Enhancement funding, the fund supports guest lectures, performances, and workshops that enrich classroom learning and campus-wide intellectual engagement. It helps faculty, departments, and programs bring scholarly and artistic perspectives into academic and cultural programming.
OAFA encourages faculty to use designated funding sources rather than individualized requests to promote equitable access. Requests may propose in-person or virtual visits. Applicants are asked to weigh both fiscal and social responsibility when choosing a format, including travel costs, environmental impacts, audience reach, and opportunities for guests to interact with students, faculty, staff, and the wider community.
