Description
Administered by Global Affairs Canada (GAC), this initiative supports more secure, low-carbon and climate-resilient economies in Sub-Saharan Africa. Its primary focus is climate change adaptation, climate-smart agriculture and nature-based solutions. It seeks effective and sustained adaptation and mitigation benefits for women, men, youth and their communities, particularly those most vulnerable to climate impacts.
Projects should expand proven approaches, strengthen local ownership and sustainability, and generate lasting adaptation benefits while contributing to lower-carbon development pathways where relevant. Projects must take a gender-responsive approach to both design and implementation. Funding is offered through GAC’s Department-Initiated – Multiple Invitations mechanism, targeting organizations with demonstrated experience and potential to scale up or deepen previously achieved results.
