Description
The National Cancer Institute (NCI), part of NIH, provides P30 Cancer Center Support Grants to integrate institutional cancer research into a single transdisciplinary enterprise. The program supports Basic, Clinical, and Comprehensive Cancer Centers, spanning laboratory discovery, clinical investigation, prevention, cancer control, and population science. Its goal is to reduce cancer incidence, mortality, and morbidity by strengthening collaborative research and translating discoveries into benefits for patients and communities.
CCSG funding supports scientific leadership, Shared Resources, administration, planning and evaluation, developmental activities, research training coordination, community outreach, and centralized clinical trial oversight. Centers are expected to collaborate with other NCI-funded investigators and programs, disseminate findings, and build research infrastructure that enhances scientific productivity across institutional boundaries. Clinical trials are optional.
