Description
Cancer Grand Challenges funds global, interdisciplinary teams tackling cancer research problems that cannot be solved by one scientist, institution or country alone. Founded by Cancer Research UK and the US National Cancer Institute, the initiative invites ambitious collaborations with the potential to transform outcomes for people affected by cancer. The current targeted call is funded by the Torrey Coast Foundation and Cancer Research UK.
This call addresses two major unmet needs in gastroesophageal cancers: understanding and reversing early tissue changes leading to cancer, and determining the biological mechanisms behind geographical differences in incidence. It seeks novel approaches, technologies and thinking, including contributions from outside the gastroesophageal cancer field. Proposals should show a clear path toward prevention, diagnosis or treatment, although a clinical intervention within the award period is not required.
