Description
This cooperative agreement aims to strengthen the capacity and performance of national immunization programs in countries of the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR). The primary focus is on achieving regional targets for vaccine-preventable disease (VPD) control, elimination, and eradication—such as polio, measles, and rubella—while reducing VPD-related morbidity and mortality and addressing emerging public health threats. The recipient will implement strategies to improve immunization access and coverage among high-risk and under-immunized populations, enhance VPD surveillance, and bolster outbreak preparedness and response. Additional objectives include fostering immunization program sustainability through evidence-based decision-making, workforce development, and program evaluation, as well as supporting other global health priorities aligned with CDC goals.
