Description
The Utah Division of Multicultural Affairs administers the Capacity Grant through a partnership with IKEA. It helps recently established nonprofits build sound operations, strong governance, and community resilience, rather than fund direct services. The goal is to strengthen the structures organizations rely on to meet community needs and fulfill their missions.
Projects must address at least one of four focus areas: board development, human resource management, marketing and communications, or strategic planning. Examples include improving board oversight policies, developing an engaged workplace, making communications more accessible, and setting multi-year priorities with stakeholders. Organizations may propose more than one focus area, but the division encourages them to consider whether a multi-focus project is feasible.
