Description
The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets runs the Capital Equipment Assistance Program (CEAP) to support the purchase and setup of new or used innovative equipment. The equipment must provide a clear water quality benefit while posing minimal water quality or erosion risk. Program goals include reducing agricultural waste runoff, improving water quality, limiting odors from manure application, separating phosphorus from manure, mitigating greenhouse gases, and reducing farmers’ manure-application costs.
CEAP supports precision agriculture, conservation tillage, cover cropping, liquid waste management, bedded pack management, and feed management equipment. These categories address needs ranging from more precise nutrient application to silage leachate concerns in existing feed bunks.
