Description
The Vermont Department for Children and Families’ Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) has granted funds to the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board (VHCB) to support emergency shelter development across the state. Capital grants support acquiring and constructing shelter facilities. For projects expected to open during state fiscal year 2027, a portion of the funding may also support staffing and operating costs.
The partners are advancing a rolling pipeline of projects, identifying opportunities, addressing development challenges, and moving priority projects toward completion as funding allows. OEO prioritizes projects based on demonstrated need. VHCB reviews budgets, project scopes, and development capacity, then makes recommendations to the department for final decisions.
