    Description

The Primate Society of Great Britain (PSGB) awards small Captive Care Grants for research that benefits the welfare of non-human primates in captivity and education projects about captive primate welfare. Its Captive Care Subcommittee administers the programme and selects projects for support. The subcommittee’s remit covers primates in zoos, sanctuaries and laboratories, promoting their husbandry, welfare and health and supporting scientific research, educational activities and training in captive primate care.

The programme prioritises attainable projects with clear benefits for captive primate welfare. Assessment also considers how an award will support the applicant’s development, including career progression or further funding applications. Although awards are small, PSGB notes that its approval can be valuable when seeking financial support from other sources.
