Description
The Carbon Reduction Program (CRP) is a federal program administered in Iowa by the Iowa Department of Transportation. It funds transportation projects designed to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from on-road highway sources. Iowa DOT allocates funding to Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) for project selection in urban areas; Iowa DOT programs other CRP funds.
Although the federal program permits a broad range of projects, Iowa DOT limits CRP uses to projects meeting the eligibility and administration requirements of the Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) Program, Iowa’s Clean Air Attainment Program (ICAAP), or Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP), while also reducing carbon emissions.
