Description
The Cardiothoracic Ethics Forum Scholarship, offered through the American Association for Thoracic Surgery Foundation, supports formal education and training in biomedical ethics for cardiothoracic (CT) surgeons and trainees. The Forum, supported by the STS and AATS, seeks to prepare future leaders in CT surgical ethics and sustain ethics education within the specialty.
The program addresses the gap between early- and mid-career surgeons’ interest in ethics and their opportunities for formal bioethics training. Educational options include intensive courses, clinical ethics immersion, summer institutes, fellowships, and advanced healthcare ethics training at leading North American ethics centers. Applicants identify a specific educational program that will develop their knowledge and skills for participation and leadership in CT ethics programs.
