Description

This award supports early-career investigators—specifically pathologists within 1 to 5 years in practice, including pathology residents and new-in-practice fellows—to advance quantitative pathology research focused on optimizing and validating HER2 immunohistochemistry (IHC) across solid tumors other than breast and gastric cancers. The goal is to address the lack of standardized HER2 testing protocols in these tumor types, generate evidence to guide accurate patient selection for anti-HER2 therapies, and improve clinical utility and consistency in HER2 testing. Priority research areas include colorectal cancer, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, and non-small cell lung cancer, though other solid tumors may be considered if justified.
