Description
The Skin of Color Society (SOCS) Career Development Award supports academic investigators developing careers in skin of color dermatology. It is intended to help a junior investigator transition from fellowship to established investigator, with an emphasis on significant creativity in clinically relevant research. The research focus should be inflammatory dermatologic diseases in skin of color, particularly areas needing further clinical, translational, and basic research.
The award connects research support with career development, institutional commitment, and mentorship. SOCS expects recipients to become future leaders who help shape dermatology. Its Research Committee reviews applications, makes funding recommendations, and monitors supported grants. Funded research results are shared through the Society’s newsletter and presented at its annual meeting.
