The Career Development Award Special Competition provides three years of support to early-stage clinical investigators who have recently received their first faculty appointment. The award is designed to help recipients establish independent clinical cancer research programs with a direct patient focus. Research must be patient-oriented, involving clinical studies or translational research with human subjects, and is conducted under the guidance of a scientific mentor. Proposals focused primarily on in vitro or animal studies are not eligible. Dedicated cycles may focus on specific cancer types, such as triple negative breast cancer.
