Description
The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation’s Career Development Awards combine research support, training, and mentorship to help investigators transition to independent careers in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) research. The program supports basic and translational investigation relevant to Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, rather than investigators already well established in IBD research. Applicants develop a career plan with a mentor and explain how the award will advance their independence.
The Foundation prioritizes research addressing unmet needs in IBD, including disease interception, restoration of function and quality of life, and remission that prevents relapse and disease progression. Preclinical work should demonstrate relevance to human IBD mechanisms. Awards also support professional development resources, and investigators may request access to IBD Plexus datasets and biosamples.
