    Description

This fellowship is designed to help early-career researchers transition to independence by supporting those without a salaried independent position to establish their own cancer research group at a UK institution. The scheme provides substantial funding, mentorship, and professional development for up to six years, enabling fellows to lead innovative research aligned with Cancer Research UK's strategic priorities, such as early detection and cancers of unmet need. Research areas supported include basic biological research, preclinical studies, imaging, radiotherapy, engineering and physical sciences, population research, and early detection. Host institutions are expected to provide a supportive environment, facilities, and career development support. The application process is competitive, involving both outline and full proposals reviewed by expert panels.
