Career Development Grants support women through short-term certificates, technical training, and leadership development to advance their careers and reduce underrepresentation in their fields.

Funding Amounts: Up to $8,000 for one certificate or training program; one-time award

Key Information: Applicants must hold at least an associate’s degree; degree programs and certificates within degree programs are ineligible.
Description
The American Association of University Women (AAUW) funds short-term, accredited certificate and training programs that help women enter, transition into, or advance within fields where they are underrepresented. Eligible pathways include architecture, engineering, mathematics, natural and physical sciences, technology, business, finance, law, and emerging technical or applied trades. Graduate certificates may qualify if they are separate from a degree program.
The program also supports currently employed women seeking executive leadership or management training in fields with persistent gender gaps in senior positions. Applicants must demonstrate that women represent less than 50% of the relevant workforce or senior leadership population. The grants emphasize purposeful career development and applying new knowledge, skills, credentials, or professional connections to advance career objectives and reduce women’s underrepresentation.
