Description
The Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract (SSAT) offers this career development award to help young faculty investigators advance research in digestive diseases. It supports clinical, outcomes, and educational research, including clinical trial development, patient-centered outcomes research, health services research, comparative effectiveness research, and cost-effectiveness research.
The award combines support for a research project with training and career development. Funds can help establish clinical trial infrastructure, obtain administrative datasets, support formal education in clinical research or biostatistics, and protect an investigator’s research time through salary support. The SSAT Research Committee reviews applications. Recipients share progress with SSAT leadership and are expected to submit resulting research for consideration at the SSAT Annual Meeting and in the Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery.
