Description
The American Society for Microbiology (ASM), in collaboration with the Medical Mycological Society of the Americas (MMSA), administers this award to support travel to ASM Microbe. Funded by an endowment from longtime ASM and MMSA member Carlyn Halde, Ph.D., it supports student medical microbiologists from Latin America, Puerto Rico or the Caribbean whose abstracts present research in medical mycology.
The award supports conference participation rather than the direct costs of conducting research. In addition to attending ASM Microbe, the recipient will attend the MMSA meeting and dinner held alongside the conference and will be asked to give a short talk on medical mycology at their own institution.
