Description
The CAS/MillerComm Public Events Series at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign supports visits by speakers and performers whose work makes unique cross-disciplinary contributions to the university’s intellectual and cultural life. Administered through the Center for Advanced Study, the series provides partial funding for lectures and cultural events that serve both campus audiences and the public.
The George A. Miller Programs Committee selects events for their quality, uniqueness, and breadth of appeal. It considers visitors’ expertise, relevance across departments and units, and ability to communicate with an interdisciplinary audience. Visits should also create opportunities for interaction with the university community, particularly students. Cooperation across disciplinary lines is central to developing and financing events.
