Description
The Kansas Governor's Grants Program administers the State Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Grant Program using State General Fund support. CASA programs recruit, train, and support citizen volunteers who advocate in court for the best interests of children who have experienced abuse or neglect. Grant-funded training helps staff and volunteers support children in obtaining safe, permanent placements.
The program centers on giving judges the information needed to make well-informed decisions for each child. Local CASA programs recruit, train, and supervise volunteers who bring children's needs and best interests before the court. State funding strengthens this advocacy through staff and volunteer training.
