The Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences (CASBS) at Stanford University brings scholars together for residential research and intellectual exchange. The program spans anthropology, economics, geography, history, law, political science, psychology, and sociology, alongside the humanities, education, linguistics, communications, and the biological, natural, health, and computer sciences. Work outside the behavioral and social sciences must have human behavioral and social dimensions.
The fellowship year focuses on reflection and writing within a multidisciplinary community. CASBS seeks accomplished scholars who can influence colleagues while remaining open to new perspectives themselves. Regular conversations, seminars, and informal working groups are intended to transform fellows’ thinking and research. Partner institutions and foundations support some residential fellowships.
