Description
The CCCC Outstanding Book Award, offered by the National Council of Teachers of English through the Conference on College Composition and Communication, recognizes outstanding published work in composition and rhetoric. It honors a book’s contribution to the profession rather than supporting a proposed research project. The program distinguishes single- or multi-authored books from edited scholarly collections, evaluating both for scholarship and research in pedagogy, practice, history, and theory.
The review framework encompasses archival, historical, classroom-based, community-based, empirical, and theoretical work. It considers the book’s research contribution, engagement with appropriate scholarship, and potential to advance the field. Particular attention is given to substantive engagement with historically marginalized authors, subjects, and research areas.
