Description
Established in 2004, this NCTE award through the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC) honors writing programs committed to ongoing improvement and able to document evidence of excellence. Formerly called the CCCC Writing Program Certificate of Excellence, it recognizes imaginative responses to the needs of students, instructors, institutions, and local communities across a broad range of writing-program structures.
The award emphasizes current best practices, exemplary faculty professional development, respectful treatment of contingent faculty, effective assessment and placement, and diversity. Programs can also demonstrate distinctive student or faculty experiences, coherent curricula, connections between theory and practice, research useful to other institutions, community service, and strategic campus alliances. Recognition highlights evidence of innovation that has been implemented, institutionalized, and sustained.
